Simon Aldred of Cherry Ghost will be joining Joe Duddell and the No 6 ensemble this year at Festival No 6 in Portmeirion.

These Festival No 6 events in conjunction with Joe Duddell have primarily taken place in the picturesque but tiny Town Hall, requiring an hour or so of queueing (not what you feel like doing at a festival). However this year I’m heartened to see that Simon Aldred will be performing at the Piazza on Sunday (as part of Peaky’s Parlour), which can accommodate thousands of viewers rather than 100. He will be revisiting and reimagining his incredible back catalogue, accompanied by string quartet, harp, bass clarinet, horn and vibraphone. No doubt there will be several tracks from Herd Runners.

I saw Cherry Ghost in 2015 at the Heavenly Weekender at The Trades Hebden Bridge; Aldred has worked sporadically since then with Cherry Ghost so it will be a rare treat to hear their material again.
