Terry Bickers, legendary founder member and guitarist of House of Love fame has announced three intimate shows and there’s new music – under wraps for now – to come too.
The original band’s phenomenal first album House of Love in 1990 still sounds as fresh now as it did on its release – tracks like Shine On and Never plus the confessional and dramatic In A Room. Terry Bickers left the band in 1993 and went on to form Levitation and other projects. He and founder HoL partner Guy Chadwick mended their creative differences and Bickers returned to House of Love in the 2000s for a time.
He’s now about to release his first new music since 2017, with The Inner Spiral. Bickers has enlisted a cast of highly versatile players to perform the new work that promises to be semi-autobiographical by nature, scintillating by execution.
With influences as far flung and disparate as The Blue Nile, Magazine, The The & The Velvet Underground, details of the new material remain under wraps for now but promise of being unlike anything Terry has put his name to before. Look out for new track Keepers out soon.
The wider studio project is confirmed to feature contributions from House of Love Matt Jury (bass), Pete Evans (drums), former Milk and Honey Band member Dan Burke (vocals, guitar and keyboards), The Trudy’s Melissa Jo Heathcote (vocals & keyboards), and Jacqueline Atwood (saxophone); all of whom will also feature in the Terry Bickers & The Inner Spiral live band.
Says Bickers: “Having been stage left or at the back for over two decades it’s exciting to be fronting a band again and working with such great musicians!”
