Man­ches­ter-based band Syl­vette have announced a new track called Mar­ble Stone, which was released on Mon­day 25th. It is from their upcom­ing third stu­dio album. In keep­ing with their music released so far, it’s very atmos­pher­ic and imag­i­na­tive – Mar­ble Stone is accom­pa­nied by rich strings and del­i­cate vocals. The band describe it as “using soli­tude, nature and med­i­ta­tion to detach from the painful feel­ings of grief that can feel claustrophobic.”

Mar­ble Stone is self-pro­duced and record­ed by the band, who met at music col­lege in Manchester.

There is a mini church tour to accom­pa­ny the new music and Syl­vette will be play­ing with a string quar­tet. The Lon­don gig is at St Pan­cras Old Church, an ide­al venue for this band. It’s full of atmos­phere, alone in its peace­ful ver­dant sur­round­ings yet strange­ly only with­in sight of St Pan­cras Station. 

Of the upcom­ing music, band mem­ber Char­lie says “We have been cre­at­ing new arrange­ments of all our songs to incor­po­rate the strings and we’re real­ly excit­ed about our upcom­ing gigs.”

He adds: “We want­ed the song to feel like you’re float­ing in the mid­dle of a glacial lake where your sens­es are total­ly awake but your mind is emp­ty and peace­ful. Per­haps in that moment when you are com­plete­ly detached from the self you are the clos­est to your loved ones who have passed on.”
