Something joyful this way comes from Animal Collective. The new single called Love on the Big Screen came out last week, via Domino, and there’s a special limited-edition 7‑inch single featuring the B‑side Buddies On the Blackboard set to be released on August 1st. Both tracks were produced by Avey Tare and Adam McDaniel, engineered and mixed by McDaniel at his Drop of Sun Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, and mastered by Dave Cooley. Today’s digital release of “Love On the Big Screen” comes with a visualizer by Danny Perez.
Adept shape-shifters over their long history, Animal Collective dive headlong into their retro summer mode for this track, complete with wistful vocals and a compulsive bass line. It’s an effortless slice of psych-tinged pop. Putting aside many of the more experimental aspects the band are known for, this track oozes wistful vocals and euphoric moments.
Notably, Panda Bear only released his latest single Virginia Tech two weeks ago – featured as our ‘track of the week’. Animal Collective’s band members are in peak productive mode.
