Who better to highlight the mess humankind are making of our earthly home than those interplanetary ravers known as HENGE. The multi-genre band (let’s call it a mix of psychedelic-prog-rock-electronica) has a new single out called Get A Wriggle On, and it’s an absolute joy. It comes with a strong eco message, beautifully portrayed in a video made in Manchester featuring local children.
In a collaborative first, the release sees HENGE teaming up with the UK environmental charity Music Declares Emergency, with proceeds from all purchases of Get a Wriggle On going towards its work.
Says Zpor, front-being of HENGE: “Humans, as you may be aware, you have a climate emergency on your home planet. This is a situation that requires URGENT ACTION! We have developed a deep love for the human race, and wish to see you thrive… and so, we have written a piece of motivational music for your species – that you may no longer dither in the face of climate catastrophe, but take on this vital endeavour with a spring in your step and hope in your hearts.”
Get a Wriggle On is the first single from HENGE’s upcoming album Alpha Test 4 – it’s due for release on 26 May 2023 on Cosmic Dross Records. That’s just in time for festival season so we should see them air the new work at Bearded Theory festival. The band will also be appearing for the third time at Bluedot festival, Llangollen Fringe festival and several others as part of a Europe-wide tour.
