Who bet­ter to high­light the mess humankind are mak­ing of our earth­ly home than those inter­plan­e­tary ravers known as HENGE. The mul­ti-genre band (let’s call it a mix of psy­che­del­ic-prog-rock-elec­tron­i­ca) has a new sin­gle out called Get A Wrig­gle On, and it’s an absolute joy. It comes with a strong eco mes­sage, beau­ti­ful­ly por­trayed in a video made in Man­ches­ter fea­tur­ing local children. 

In a col­lab­o­ra­tive first, the release sees HENGE team­ing up with the UK envi­ron­men­tal char­i­ty Music Declares Emer­gency, with pro­ceeds from all pur­chas­es of Get a Wrig­gle On going towards its work.

Says Zpor, front-being of HENGE: “Humans, as you may be aware, you have a cli­mate emer­gency on your home plan­et. This is a sit­u­a­tion that requires URGENT ACTION! We have devel­oped a deep love for the human race, and wish to see you thrive… and so, we have writ­ten a piece of moti­va­tion­al music for your species – that you may no longer dither in the face of cli­mate cat­a­stro­phe, but take on this vital endeav­our with a spring in your step and hope in your hearts.”

Get a Wrig­gle On is the first sin­gle from HENGE’s upcom­ing album Alpha Test 4 – it’s due for release on 26 May 2023 on Cos­mic Dross Records. That’s just in time for fes­ti­val sea­son so we should see them air the new work at Beard­ed The­o­ry fes­ti­val. The band will also be appear­ing for the third time at Blue­dot fes­ti­val, Llan­gollen Fringe fes­ti­val and sev­er­al oth­ers as part of a Europe-wide tour.
