Pale Blue Eyes have today released a remix of How Long Is Now by ‘spatial landscaper’ Richard Norris on their own Broadcast Recordings label. The original is the opening track on their last album, New Place, which was released earlier this year.
Richard describes his approach to the track: “As soon as I heard the track I knew I’d approach the mix somewhere along the autobahn, about 3am, with Klaus Dinger trying to overtake on the inside lane. Approaching the speed limit. One for the kosmik and expanded psychonauts.”
How Long is Now, really sums up everything that makes Pale Blue Eyes such a joy to listen to. There’s that steady, motorik rhythm, the dreamy indie-pop feel, and those shimmering, euphoric moments that make you want to dance, or maybe just close your eyes and drift along with it.
Norris’s remix takes all of that and gives it a gentle, thoughtful twist. Instead of flipping it on its head, he leans into the emotional core of the song, giving it more space to breathe and letting it shine. The extended intro builds slowly with jittery notes that set the mood perfectly. From there, it evolves into something immersive. Norris really gets the heart of the original – this remix feels like a natural extension rather than a reinvention, and it adds a fresh layer of energy while keeping the signature Pale Blue Eyes sound intact.
The track will be released as an extremely limited 12” white label vinyl on 18th July.
