A self-assured and distinctive single and EP has just been released by Cork alt-folk singer-songwriter Sarah Buckley called Wind Chimes. The song comes hot on the heels previous single release, Always Trouble and both tracks are on her new EP.
There’s more than meets the eye with Wind Chimes – the three-track EP as a whole is about acknowledging that things have gone wrong with a relationship. Sarah’s vocals have a charming purity that almost lulls you into thinking her subject matter is all about love and sweetness. But there’s more going on behind the scenes… the lyrics delve into a relationship gone wrong plus there are undertones of darkness. The track Always Trouble is a case in point – a chilling title about being enmeshed in a situation that was out of control.
Sarah has been gigging extensively, playing showcases and support slots around Ireland. She has opened for Mick Flannery, Gemma Hayes, Niamh Regan and Ham Sandwich to name a few. Recently, having been selected to take part in the ‘Creative Moves Europe’ project (programme funded by the European Union), Sarah was working on her music this summer in the new environment of Berlin.
