The artists on Lost Map Records rep­re­sent a diverse range of gen­res but nev­er­the­less are unit­ed by their strong cre­ative vision. Base camp is the wild island of Eigg, where the label’s own­er, John­ny Lynch, aka Pic­tish Trail, nur­tures and encour­ages his ros­ter of musicians. 

And in this vein, pop and dis­co trio SDF’s cap­ti­vat­ing new sin­gle Euro­pean Bar has come into being, a dreamy jour­ney enhanced by the unusu­al speak/sing vocals and anchored by the sen­so­ry thud of the sub bass and a glo­ri­ous mash of elec­tron­ic sound. The full length ver­sion, all of 10min 55sec, takes the lis­ten­er along a mys­ti­cal and dense journey. 

“Euro­pean Bar: a myth­ic place, an occa­sion­al­ly occur­ring ide­alised dream state; a place where we can all come togeth­er and Be. You know it when you’re there. A fridge, a sound sys­tem, a state of mind. And there’s always a view, for­ward and back…”.

Forged in the night­clubs of New­cas­tle and now based around the marsh­es of north east Lon­don, SDF are Adam Parkin­son (aka Dane Law) and Oliv­er Marchant (aka RKB Vitesse) togeth­er with quan­tum physi­cist Lucy Whal­ley. Their debut album Judas was released in 2015 on Good Food Tapes, fol­lowed by Alana in 2017 via Psy­kick Dancehall.

Euro­pean Bar is also uro­pean Bar by SDF is released as part of Lost Map’s PostMap Club sub­scrip­tion ser­vice in the month of Feb­ru­ary and avail­able to stream and share now, it’s the first taste of brand-new mate­r­i­al from the band since their 2022 Lost Map debut album Rhythm of the Rubi­con. SDF have been announced for the Kel­burn Gar­den Par­ty Fes­ti­val at Kel­burn Cas­tle in Largs, Scot­land on Fri­day, July 5, with more live dates for 2024 to be announced.
