Strawberry Guy, aka Alex Stephens, announces his second studio album, Give Me A Dream, out on October 23rd. He’s also just released the single Love Me Like You Used To.

Strawberry Guy’s new single, Love Me Like You Used To, is an unashamedly open and emotional plea for love; in the video it is represented through the complexities of a father-daughter relationship as its female protagonist embarks on a physical and emotional journey where she has an epiphany – watch it and find out what happens. It was produced by Alex, who plays a brief role in the video. Shot in the US it stars Sadie Sandler (Roommates, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah). The track is a dreamy and lush piano-led ballad with a slightly Beatles-esque edge to its heart-stoppingly beautiful intro.

Says Alex:“I find I write in times of sadness to help me try and overcome or process my feelings. I think it’s really important to reflect on issues this way because it gives me so much perspective. We all have difficult relationships and this is definitely a song about that.. I hope that this song can give people the same perspective and hope that it gave me.”

About the video, Alex says: “I was thrilled to have Sadie Sandler in the lead role for the music video. She did such an incredible job. I met her after my song ‘Mrs Magic’ featured in the wonderful film ‘Roommates’ which she starred in. After I came up with the story, I thought Sadie would be really great for the role and I’m so glad she said yes!”

The new album Give Me A Dream will be out in October (review to come).

Music is a way of giving myself hope and clarity.” says Alex. “And I think that if I can give that to other people, then that’s a beautiful thing.”
