The second, long-awaited album by darkwave synthpop supremos Magnetic Skies called Fragments will be out on 7th November. Till then we’ve been listening to singles from the upcoming release and the final drop, Everything’s Alright is out today.
Front man Simon Kent has this to say about the single: “This is the most hopeful, positive track on the album, conveying a feeling of being present, of love, and reclaiming joy… where life feels whole again.”
Have a look at their video…
Never ones to do anything by halves, Everything’s Alright is true to form for Magnetic Skies. It’s a dramatic, euphoric powerhouse of a track with a pulsing bass and those soaring vocals from Simon and keyboard player Jo Womar. The band are adept at balancing a steely, almost glacial quality in their productions with anthemic, emotional vocals – it’s a duality that works well for them and ramps up the tension and atmosphere.
Talking about the upcoming album, Simon has this to say: ‘“Fragments” reflects a fractured, fast-moving world where identity, intimacy, and meaning are increasingly elusive; life, memory, relationships, and reality are broken into pieces, and each track is trying to gather those pieces into something coherent and meaningful. There’s a yearning for reconnection, with moments of clarity, love, and transcendence to offer salvation.’
